Have you ever been completely flummoxed by the idea of keying out a plant sample in order to ID it – whether in the Master Gardener office, or in your own back yard? This presentation and hands-on tutorial will familiarize you with this Most Helpful of field guides, plus give you a refresher on all those botanical terms that are so useful when trying to ID plants.
The Wildflower Walk will be an opportunity to practice what you have just learned while we play with the local Flora. The grounds around the Bartlett Arboretum have a lovely variety of wildflowers, and we will explore what Mother Nature has to show us.
Bring a copy of Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide if you have one, and a magnifying glass or hand lens. Dress properly for our walk, which will take place rain or shine. Feel free also to bring samples of Mystery Plants from your own yard, too (no Poison Ivy, please!).
